The truth is Pompey have nearly always come unstuck against Southampton, including the last big meet when the 657 chant soon turned into panic and running away at the sight of the Saints' mob. Pompey fans have always been big talkers and hyped up their own grossly overrated rep earned in the 3rd and 4th divisions at places like Oxford and Cambridge.
