If the monitor is a CRT, DVI will produce no improvement. If the monitor is something else, the improvement should be small, perhaps imperceptable. DVI is something that mainly benefits Hollywood, not us.

If you opt for DVI, make sure you get an STB and TV with DVI/HDCP. That's what's going to allow for the viewing of copy protected content. I guess it will solely be from Satellite and Cable. I don't think the current FCC rules will allow copy protected OTA HD.
If you get DVI/HDCP you should be protected in the event that copy protection of HD channels becomes widespread on satellite and cable...some day you may be able to watch some channels or pay per view events in HD that those of us without DVI/HDCP won't be able to view with our HD STBs and TVs.

If thats the case theyve got a class action lawsuit on their hands.I refuse to be penalized for getting in early and help hi-def succeed.

Craig C.: That's one of the primary reasons many of us believe thatworryinga bout DVI or Fireware (IEEE-1394) at this time is not really relavent or something to worry too much about having. (Assuming the reason for getting it is fear of that copy protection, and not a simple preference for having a digital connection.)
We've seen a lot of these things come and go, and even if they forced some kind of copy protection many of us expect there will be some way around it to let those of us with component only set view the shows in HD, anyway. There always is.

If you have a digital display then DVI is of benefit.
