Just about to order the toshiba 65hdx; not really looking for a review of set, this is the way I'll go.Can someone please tell me if it is possible to separate this unit on or at delivery? Also, what kind of picture can I expect on this set from cable (digital). I am in NY & have Staten Isaland cable (Time Warner).

I have this set & it can not be seperated. I have been satisfied with the picture, especially HD.

Thanks for the reply. However, specifically would I am concerned about, is how the picture looks, when a "regular" cable hook-up is formatted to the 16:9 screen. Many people seem to say that the outside of the picture (right & left) will look some what deformed because of the "Stretching".I know there is another option to zoom-in, but again, have been told that perspective changes. I've attempted to see the set in several stores, but all were connected to HD, so naturally the picture was perfect. None had the means to show me what it would look like on a regular set-up.If so, just how much distortion could I expect. I'm starting to doubt whether I should make this move. The majority of the time, I will utilize this set to watch broadcast TV, but really was thinking about future transition to HD. Right now I have 36" Proscan (direct veiw). Perfect picture, but wanted to step up to much bigger screen, without winding up with something that will be obsolete. I would apperciate any extra input here.

again cable analog wasn't the greastest but like you i was planning on upgrading and yesterday i did and and the channels that are in hd or digital look awsome.i still might look into direct tv when toshiba comes out with a new dst 3100 stb.you have to remember your looking ahead.so you will not always have analog cable.you can also hook up a set of rabbit ears antena and your picture will be better than your analog cable

I bought both the 65 and the 57 inch versions of this Toshiba model and the 57 shows way superior in both HDTV AND regular analog signal...(more noticable with regular)...Even the DVD's show superior on the 57" model...With Toshiba It's 42" 50" and no larger than 57" for picture quality...(needless to say, I sent the big 65" flagship back out to sea)...
