Are you sure about this. I know News Corp (Mr. Murdock to be specific) is very much against HD and that is why they have "Enhanced TV" (which is 480p) vs "HDTV". Plus 720p is ABC's thing.

Primetime,
Fox has been very vocal that they have no intention of broadcasting in HD. Perhaps your local station is upconverting.

Some of the locals are putting out a 720P DTV signal. Unfortunately the source is still 480P or 480I from the national feed. The game is 16:9 but that does not make it HD. To be called HD the source, national feed and local transmission must be 720P or 1080I.

Never said they were broadcasting in HD, just said they are broadcasting it in 720p. My WS55511 up converts it to 1080i and I can say this...it looks better than 480i 16:9 and it looks better than 24 (which is 480p).

Then the title should have been FOX in 720P! I will change that for you now.

Local Affiliate is Upconverting

I've exchanged a few emails with the chief engineer of my local Fox affiliate, and have been informed that he is doing an upconvert to 1080i. I suspect that your affiliate may be doing the same to 720p, perhaps as a test. Check your station's web page for an email contact to their engineering department and just ask them. Most stations are very interested in feedback from HD customers and want to know how things look with different receiver/monitor combinations as, in a way, we early adopters are considered testers. Our local NBC affiliate had to discontinue their digital SD signal due to problems with specific receivers based upon feedback from customers, so they do listen.
Fox generally broadcasts the national football games in 16:9 widescreen, although I don't believe that it's even 480p, just a standard 480i signal. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

My mits upconverts everything 1080i. No matter if its 480i, 480p or 1080i. How do you know your source feed is 720p? Mit's do not accept native 720p anyway and there is no way possible for you to know that you are receiving a 720p signal.
The game was in Widescreen. It looked alright but no way was HD.

Sorry about the title..it has been changed now.
When the program comes in, it has a description of 720p. My mitsu can receive a 720p and convert it to 1080i. It is a brand new model with an integrated tuner.
