Since consumers buy TV's based on all the wrong things such as brightness, vividness, contrasty and colorful manufacturers make the picture very blue. This in turn leads to people that look kinda dead and poor flesh tone. To compensate they add red back in by increasing the red gain in the color decoder. More often than not this becomes a problem because there isn't anyway to align the color decoder correctly.

The Avia DVD has the patterns and filters for you to check this.
