Watching Comcast Philly's telecast of the Phillies game last night, they announced that it would be HD and 5.1 surround. I agree with the HD, but I must be doing something wrong. When I put my receiver into the 5.1 mode, I got no sound. I could get surround from the TV mode, but I'm sure it's not 5.1. When comcast installed the STB, was there something that should have been connected, but wasn't? This wouldn't surprise me as they did pull the cable that allowed me to record on one channel and watch another, I re-hooked that up on my own.
Am I wrong to expect to get 5.1 sound on an HD channel when they are broadcasting it and I select the 5.1 mode on the receiver?
Can anyone in the Philly area confirm that they did send out a 5.1 signal with last night's Phillies game?
Thanks.

Yes, I got in 5.1 DD last night. I have an optical cable running from the Motorola 5100 to my receiver.
My receiver has 3 modes to recieve audio singal: Analog, Digital and Auto modes. I MUST have it in the Digital mode in order to get the 5.1 sound.
Try this: Check and see how the audio out of the STB is set up. You should have the standard White/Red audio jacks to the TV. THen a separate optical jack for connection to a digital receiver. If you have this already, then check to see if your stereo receiver is in DIGITAL mode rather than ANALOG.
