HDTV looked GREAT in the first half, but what happened in the second? First the HD was lost, then the HD picture came back but without audio...and only sporadically. Was this just a local problem in the DC area, or did others have it? Was it ABC, WJLA-TV, or Comcast?

In San Francisco, we had some sound trouble in the first 18 minutes of programming but everything else was fine all the way through. I'm sure your problem was a local thing.

Same as San Francisco here in North Jersey on Cable

Fine to begin with and then afer the first 5 minutes, the letterbox came up for about 10 minutes then it was fine. Had audio trouble on one of the sideline interviews but I think that was from FEDEX stadium itself. Did not notice any problems in the second half as it relates to quality of the broadcast.

In the Philadelphia area I was able to watch the game via OTA and I did notice the picture wasn't as sharp as the CBS broadcast in the past. Audio was in AC-3.

I picked it up out here in central Illinois off of WAND in Decatur. I didn't notice any problems, except it took tham a few minutes to "flip the switch" during the pre-game.
And--watching this game in HD (from most cmaera angles) makes that horrible "sky-cam" thing look even worse than ever!

I also get OTA in the D.C. area and experienced the exact same thing you described. First half was great second half HD was replaced by SD for a bit and then when the HD came back the picture was in and out with no sound, unwatchable. So I watched most of the second half on regular cable and checked every so often to see if they fixed the problem on the HD signal. With about 5 minutes left in the game the HD signal was restored and everything was fine from there on in. At least the Skins won. Saw the winning field goal in High Definition.. Sweet!

Those of us who live in North Jersey and fortunate enough to have Cablevision are S-O-L. I watched the entire game in disgust knowing that most of the US was getting the HD feed. The only thing that could be worse is if NBC started carrying Sundays. Someone needs to get their ass in gear over here and get the OTA for ABC & NBC in NYC up and running. Sorry to vent, just getting a little discouraged that I have the technology and cannot utilize it!

I had no problems except watching the SkyCam SD view.....I hear ABC has ordered an HD camera for that and they expect to have it delivered by Christmas. The rest of the sound and video was superb if you got it correctly as we did.... OTA, and on Comcast feeds, except for a brief interruption in the second half..
I must say ABC has tremendous coverage of football both on ESPN-HD and Thursday/Monday Night Football.

Since there didn't appear to be a problem in other parts of the country, and since the OTA broadcast from WJLA suffered the same fate as the Comcast relay, it appears this was a WJLA problem. My HD returned the same time as the poster who was watching it OTA...about 5 minutes before the end of the game.
The HD was so great, (aside from the skycam and, I think, one sideline camera), I'm thinking about giving up my Redskins tickets. Yes, I stayed home last night because I really wanted to see the Skins in HD on my 53" Panasonic. I wasn't disappointed.
