Well, there I was, beer in hand, ready to watch my beloved Giants in glorious HD (I know, not so glorious Fox widescreen). But no, not even that. Directv has instituted a new policy this year that blacks out area games on their Sunday Ticket package, thereby forcing you to go to the local affiliate, in this case Fox ch.5 in NYC, which I can't pull in the ota higher rez signal. This of course forces me to watch the crappy Directv SD feed.
Quite ironic, don't you think? Here they are, offering you games in HD, yet you can't watch the one game that you're most interested in.

Looked terrible anyway, you weren't missing much. I can't tell much difference from the 480p Fox runs and the standard Directv feed. The CBS HDTV Football game on the other hand was incredible along with the ESPNHD game which is on right now.

Looked great in st. louis (not the team unfortunately) - I could swear it was better than 480P - looked like 1080i, but not sure what fox is broadcasting in.

the close-ups were nice in 480p. i enjoy watching anything in widescreen as long as its not stretched. how far are you from the empire state building? i dont understand how us giants fans here in ny/nj cant get the 16x9 feed, but people in all the other areas can. how many people in Ohio care about the Giants? 3? WE'RE THE ONES WHO WANT TO SEE IT!

Quote: "the ESPN game is good, but at 720p it sucks compared to CBS. What is up with ESPN? Why no true 1080p?"
Huh? No one broadcasts in 1080p. CBS is 1080i.
Besides, 720p is better than 1080i for sports. I didn't see it so I don't know why it was a bad picture for you but every sports program I've seen in 720p always looked better 1080i.
