How long does it take to update TiVo information via their daily automatic phone call? Basic and TiVo Plus?
Trying to get a handle on phone expense for TiVo from our remote area with no local toll-free TiVo numbers.
Seems to be no other choice except TiVo for a DVR
capability with DirecTv.

This unit will not record HDTV you know. They are rumored to be making one that will. Just wanted to point that out. Digital is not HDTV in most cases. Digital non-HDTV service on DirecTV is very poor in picture quality compared to analog cable pictures.

It's my understanding that with DirecTivo it gets the guide data from the satellite and only does basic housekeeping (PPV, etc.) via the phone call. So I don't think it's very long.
