Local FOX reception in Lead Belt Area

I live in the Lead Belt area(Park Hills, Farmington, etc) and I would like info from someone that also lives locally. My question is concerning your digital TV reception of the FOX KTVI channel 2-1(43-3). I would like to know what your signal strength is and if you are having any reception problems with FOX. Thanks for any feedback...........................................

Mike,

Don't know if you caught my response in the AVS September thread, but in case you didn't...

I'm in Crystal City and use a Channelmaster 4 bay bowtie antenna with no problems. At your distance you may wish to go with the 8 bay bowtie. Previously I used a simple radio shack yagi, but I could never get everything locked in at the same time. No problems since I switched to the Channelmaster. Good luck.

Brad,
Yes I happened to look at the old thread in the AVS forum from STL late last night. I appreciate your input. I was really hoping to get someone closer to me. I am having a terrible problem still with getting FOX 2-1(43-3). I would not mind it so much but I am a big Rams fan and I can not stand to watch the games on the poor reception from the locals on direcTV. The digital antenna reception is so much better but in the warmer weather in is mostly gone. I have posted my problem on here before and have got alot of recommendations such as move antenna, get a bigger antenna, higher mast, different preamp, etc. Also someone said that Fox is only broadcasting at 500KW and all the other stations are at 1000KW. I think that is my biggest problem since I am about 70 miles south of STL. I have sent numerous e-mails to the KTVI engineer but he has never responded to my request for info on when he is going to go to full power(1000KW). By the way I do have a big channel master antenna( a couple years old, unsure about model#, but it is not a bow tie).

Hey thanks for your response to me. I really appreciate it.

Mike,

you might want to try www.hdtvpub.com

they have a place for users to list their antenna experience, maybe someone in your area has a report posted.

good luck.

for whatever reason, cbs seems to be the difficult channel to get here in Crystal City. I had problems and the two friends I have with HD also had problems with CBS. It really was just trial and error with antenna pointing to find that right place. Also, all of our problems were improved by taking excess slack out of the cable run. You might try that- keep the cable run as short as possible as signal degrades a little bit every foot of cable.

Brad,
Thanks for your info. I am suprised by what you said that CBS(KMOV) was a problem in Crystal City. KMOV(CBS) has always been my strongest channel followed closely by NBC and ABC. On my RCA HDTV receiver I normally get CBS and ABC in the 80's. NBC 70-80's.

Fox comes in if I am lucky and atmospheric conditions are favorable I can get a 40-50 signal. This really makes me mad since I love the RAMS and want to watch them on FOX KTVI. The analog picture is very poor off my OTA and DirecTV local FOX is also poor on my 53 inch Hitachi.

Brad,
I just looked at the site you gave me and thanks that seems to be a very good site for HDTV info and OTA information. Unfortunately no one has posted any info from my area but I did post some about the area for others to see.

A BIG THANKS AGAIN..............................
