I currently own a Mitsubishi WT46807. I was lucky enough to have purchased an extended warranty on it... and I am very LUCKY to have done that. The situation that I have is that I get this light dark shading of vertical lines that run close to the sides of the screen. I have had a technician out and they have replaced the green "gun" three times... and all times the shading is there. He knows it is a problem with the green aspect since it only appears in that color, and none of the others. Well, in short, the extended warranty says that if they cannot fix the problem after three attempts, it is a "lemon" and they will reimburse me for the cost of the unit ($2900+) or enough to get a similar model (in that price range). What would you get as a replacement. I am limited as to space (that is why I got this particular model... limited in width space since it the Mitsubishi unit replaced a big screen in a built around cabinet. So, I would love some advice as to what to buy given the dollars and space limitations... oh, and having DVI and 720p capabilities wouldn't be bad also. Thanks in advance.

If space is limited I'd highly recommend one of the big Sony direct-view XBR Trinitron tube sets. I have the KD34XBR2 and the picture quality is spectacular! It comes with all the rear-panel connections you'd ever need as well.

It truly has a "through an open window" aspect on the 1080i feeds from the local PBS stations and sports in 780p are awesome!

Look at the Sammy DLP. might cost you a little bit more but. native 720p and DVI. After 8000 hours just replace the lightbulb and you have a new tv

I also have the sony kd34xbr2....the picture quality is beyond compare to any rptv, lcd or plasma out there...the newer models have more inputs but do not have an internal hd tuner so you would need to buy an outboard tuner..but the newest xbr even has better technology for picture quality..though it is hard to believe anything could look better than this tv
