But Fox isn't doing HD, right? I understood that they were simply doing Fox Widescreen (480p). Let me know if I'm wrong and I'll start planning some World Series parties.

I don't know why they haven't done the playoff's in widescreen. Would it have been that tough to move the cameras (if neccessary) from Yankee Stadium to Fenway and Gillette for the Giants game. They are all within a 3 hour drive of one another and they could have accomplished it easily.
I'll believe the World Series is in widescreeen ED when I see it

Anything is possible if someone else is doing it.

Thank GOD!!!! The World Series is in ED or Fox Widescreen or whatever you call it. I didn't want to believe it until I saw it, but now its official. Why they couldn't do it for the LCS is beyond me, but now Im a little happier!

They start in Widescreen ... then back to 4:3 for the play introductions. Were they just teasing us? Bummer!
just discovered the following -
BOSTON - it is 4:3 (Bell ExpressVu)
SEATTLE (Q-13) - it is widescreen (Bell ExpressVu)
DETROIT - it is widescreen (StarChoice)

A Fox engineer stated (on AVS) that the reason the playoffs were not in WS was that the necessary trucks had to be committed back in April (when the heightened interest caused by the Cubs and Sox/Yankees could not have been forseen). So the trucks got assigned to football instead.

I sit behind a camera man that uses a Sony 72 Digi HD camera at Yankee Stadium. I always wondered why. After all YES does not do HD and we all know FOX does 480p and for that matter ESPN does not really do HD either. I guess it was for the Japanese viewers.

I think the he's referring to the fact that 95% of ESPN's HD programming is SD. I realize that means the 5% IS HD, but that's very little programming. Now next year things are going to get a whole lot better.

You must have been stretching the picture because the playoffs were not all broadcast in widescreen. The series is in widescreen 480P if your local affiliate is passing it on.

It was in full screen 16:9 last night. The scores were at the 4% overscan mark so I am surprised that nobody is complaining about the scores being partially cutoff or missing.

Thank God some one else has made the remark about the scores. My 40H80 is set to 5% overscan and I can only see the bottom 1/3 of the score. Have to keep entering the menu mode to see the score and what a BEEYYYACH it is when clicking between to programs.
