I almost forgot, when I was at Sears the other day searching for VOOM, I happened to look up and see a Mitsubishi rear projection HD that seemed to be running an ad for itself. And one screen said something about a Firewire Output. Would this be what we're all looking for? But of course, I can't let my Pioneer plasma go. Not for awhile.....

Most Mits HDTV integrated sets currently have 3 firewire ports built in. My set is two years old and it has firewire I/Os, but these connections are worthless unless the STBs, DVR (PVR), or other equipment also has these connections. My motorola cable box has a DVI connection and not firewire.

Your firewire output can be used as an input to a DVHS recorder. I think there is some computer software available to record on a hard disk in the computer as well. I always thought the firewire out on the Mits was a nice extra.

And if you have no interest in D-Theater Mits has a D-VHS for you...

I am aware of the JVC and Mits recorder but just can't bring myself go back to tape. I am hoping there will be a HD PVR with a firewire connection.
That in itself brings up a problem I was thinking about last night. I am using a Motorola DCT5100 cable box for cable HD. If I had a HD PVR with firewire I still would not be able to control the cable box because it has no firewire, only DVI which my Mits does not have. I guess while I am wishing I should wish that Motorola will add a firewire connection to the cable box too.
