I held back getting a HDTV unit here in Mexico where the only sourse of HDTV is satellite until now. The trouble is there is a chance that the VOOM footprint may not reach into central Mexico.

HAS anyone seen any information on the the VOOM satellite signal coverage south of the continental 48 states?

The foot print does not extend to western US nor southwestern US and I would imagine that includes Mexico although the chart I saw did not show Mexico or Canada. As I recall if I was not located east of the Mississippi I would hold off as it was spotty to nil west of the Mississippi.

According to the manufacturer of the Satellite, it has the capacity to send out both a CONUS beam and spot beams. I saw a picture of the spot beam footprint. The spot beams seemed even more narrow than those of Dish or DirecTV.

I would think that for the type of programming the folks at VOOM are contemplating, that they would choose the CONUS beam, a copy of which(footprint) I have not been able to find.

As a member of the press, I sent VOOM an email to the appropriate press address requesting footprint coverage information. I never received a response.

Some other folks in the Satellite industry have been getting strange signals as well. I hope they can get their sh** together and provide this service.

This HDTV beginner thinks it could be a winner if handled correctly.
