The height of a 23 inch HDTV screen is 11.25". Do you watch TV from your bed with the TV about 3' from your face? This TV is way too small for HDTV. I wouldn't spend over $1100 for something this size. Just my opinion.

My point is, that with such a small screen, you will discern little difference between a regular TV and a HDTV. HDTV is better suited to much larger screen areas. Now, if you want to spend $1100 for a screen that will make little difference instead of $200-400, that's your choice.

HDTV has little to do with the price of this monitor. It's all about the size. I think this is a great price for a 23" LCD TV.
You seem to be implying that he could find a non-HD 23" LCD TV for $200-400. If you know of any place that sells a 23" TV that I can hang on my wall, then please let me know! I'd buy a bunch of them!
