Did anyone notice an improved PQ on Leno last night? I have been seeing macro blocking in the wood on his desk and on the upholstry of the chairs since I started watching several weeks ago. I was ready to blame my Samsung STB, and suddenly last night it was gone. I am watching it on 48-2 in the SF Bay area.

regards, billb....

Three reasons to watch Leno:

Major eye candy

Occasional funnies in monologue

Certain guests (Sarah McLaughlin, for instance).

If we all liked the same things, there would be a need for only one channel.

Had to be your station. You should still see pixelation and contouring at 3 screen heights. Watch the wood and reds.

Richard, you are absolutely correct; that is where I saw the blocking before; last night it was gone. I'm happy to know it was upstream of my STB, and that it can be fixed, if the responsible party will just do it. I see similar effects on some other OTA programming; I believe someone mentioned the use of small format monitors in production or broadcast environments. Do you think they are sending us this junk because they can't see it on their tiny screens?

Could be...

Glad to hear I am not alone in seeing this stuff even though it seems that way most of the time. Most are just happy to have HD regardless of the problems that are still there but shouldn't be.

LOL! Sorry guy, it was meant in fun. Die Hard New Yorker here but, I have to admit the HD widescreen picture is beautiful on Leno. I even e-mailed CBS twice asking why Letterman is still not HD or widescreen, but alas no replies. Screw 'em. After CBS caved in on the Reagan miniseries I have no respect for them anyway. Free speech and choice are our American birthright be it politics, broadcast content or which channel you choose.

Rock on,

Tom
