I recently ordered a xbr 910 direct view t.v. and my salesman told me i need not worry about damaging the tv (I watch alot of 4:3, tlc hist disc etc.) as long as I don't have the brightness and contrast cranked above midpoint. Is this correct? I would prefer not watching in stretch mode because of degradation in pq. any help would be appreciated.

Huh. A moo point?
Yeah, it's like a cow's opinion. It just doesn't matter. It's moo.

For many sets the probability of burn-in is very low. But the probability is not zero for any CRT. Serious burn-in is most likely in the few hours after adjustment of the contrast and brightness controls.
