My set up is Charter cable and I tuned in to see a program on FoxHD, it was the one with Paris Hilton.
Anyways the Pic looked great but the sound was full of drop outs and so bad I went back to standard broadcast, I checked the other stations in HD and they sound just fine. Is this a problem with HDTV broadcast or did Fox just have a bad night??
Thanks Don.

Also for anyone with cable HDTV is there any tweeks or upgrades like cables or amps I should look at or is cable as is and what you see is what you get.

For DTV, if you get sound dropouts but not image dropouts, the fault is not a reception problem. A bad STB can sometimes cause this, but then you would likely see the problem on all stations. Your problem was at either FOX or Charter. It seems like all the DTV broadcasters occasionally have bad days. There is nothing in what you said that suggests that you would benefit from a stronger signal.

I experience sound dropouts on my T351 if it is set for DD5.1 and the source is PCM; I usually check for DD at my receiver at the beginning of a program, then switch back to PCM if there is no 5.1 id on the receiver.

Bad, bad, BAD audio dropouts here, and can't get the problem corrected. My STB is the Scientific Atlanta 3100HD. What's yours?

I , too, have a SA 3100D and have the same audio drop out from time to time. Another bug in the continued growing pains of HD I suppose.
