This is the TV I've decided to purchase...It seems like the ideal set for use with recording HD...such as the JVC HMHD40000U. I'll post a thread on my opinion of this combination for the benifit of this forum...thanks.

Toshiba's new HX93 series appears to have different CRT guns that the HX83 series...the 83 has 4 lens element guns, and the 93 has 5. The 93 series also has firewire connections, as well as a built-in ASTC tuner that claims to tune cable digital TV signals that are not scrambled, in addition to ASTC terristial broadcasts. Sounds very interesting! Anybody have any additional information on these sets: any opinions on the value of these differences. I am beginning to think that a terristial ASTC tuner is not a bad idea, given how slowly cable TV companies have been to send down local ASTC digital signals. I really don't need or want another box in the equipment cabinet! Thoughts and criticism welcome!

At this time integrated DTV tuners are coming at a premium whether a new purchase or repair down the line.

You can get a DTV receiver for about $350 now. If you want 1394 the Samsung is running about $600. You will have to weigh that against the difference in price you are paying for an HD ready versus an HD integrated.
