I spoke with Engineering just now and they said that the HD Encoder blew out after they replaced alot of their equipment with new stuff for sound. I said it was a pretty bold statement for the Cheif enginner to go live on the air last night and basically promise that the station will be braocasting when the channel has been down for over 2 days now.
Anyways, KOVR knows the exact problem and the new Encoder is actually on the freeway on it was to Sacramento for installation. They have taken the channel out of commision because of this.
I now have complete faith in them. I spoke with Karl there and he was the IT enginner who sits with the A/V enginners and I heard him talking with the guys next to him finding out what the problem was. So I trust what ge said.
Be cool guys,
Andy

Thanks for the info Andy. There are a lot of us who are concerned for obvious reasons since this is CBS. I emailed the chief engineer earlier in the week because to the breakup we were experiencing every 63 seconds. He said they had moved the HD equipment from the transmitter site to the studio and were having trouble with the microwave link. I was happy to see that it had been corrected two nights ago, and then last night it was black with audio only on 13-1. I guess it's tough being a pioneer.
