I have an old dolby prologic surround receiver _ Sony--..the rear speaker volumes are very low... Is there a way "antuate" the front speakers then raise the volume so the rear spearkers can produce more volume or is this just a fraility of the prologic system?

Usually your receiver will allow you to control the volume of the rears, but not the front. That is how you ge the balance between front and rear.
