I recently changed from D* to comcast. I have the HD box which in my case is the motorola. When the installation technition was hooking it up, he put the component cables in the input #1, and he could not get a picture. Then he hooked it up to the DBS input and the picture was perfect. He then said that this was common, but said very unconvincingly. Has any one else had this problem. The TV is a Mitsubishi WS 55511.
Also, is it possible to use PIP when watching non-HD?
Thanks,
Jim

I think you meant DTV input, not DBS. The DTV input will take 1080i - input 1 will only take 480i/p. Your STB is probably outputting 1080i. Leave it on the DTV input and you'll be fine.

Almost forgot - you can't use PIP on the DTV input (at least not while in 1080i mode). What you could do is run a S video cable to the TV on input 1 if you have a S video out from the cable box also and then you might be able to do PIP on input 1 with another source (but obviously you use the HD resolution).

You cannot pip certain scan rates like an HD to an HD I think. My old Mits will PIP against the NTSC inputs like the tuner so I set the tuner to the SD version of the HD channel and PIP that while I surf HD between commercials. You can also swap them. It will not PIP 2 component inputs though.
