A diagram for my CATV system is in the link. My question is can I place the AMP before the splitter and still use the power injector? The power would be running through the splitter. Look at the pic and you will understand more clearly.

I would recommend putting the amp after the split if you have a cable modem on your other path, because the cable modem has a return path. It is a two way device
the amp would get in the way.

I have taken apart a number of splitters. The circuits in them vary a lot. Some will pass DC, some will not. If you have an ohmmeter, you can test the splitter by sticking wires in two ports. Anything less than 200 ohms is fine. Also test for a short to ground. If you don’t have an ohmmeter, your simplest option is to move the splitter to where you want it and see if the amp still works. It should be obvious. The power supplies are current limited, so a short to ground won’t hurt anything.
You might need a DC Block in the path to the other TV. Test with the other TV disconnected. Then if reconnecting it shuts down the amp, go to Radio Shack and buy a DC Block.

Are you using the single output model, if you look at the data sheet for anything more then that (single)
there is a bit of insertion loss which may or may not effect your return path.
If you do use it as advised use a DC block in the other path.

You are going to get RG-6 and that is fine. Why don't you just go to Radio Shack and buy one of there "distribution amps", it's a splitter and amp in one box and works just fine.
