I know this has nothing to do with HD but maybe some of you guys might know something about this. I'm thinking of upgrading my phono in order to transfer lps directly to my minidisk recorder/player without the use of a computer. Some modern turntables I've noticed (especially DJ models) have sp/dif and coax outs. But my minidisk has a mini optical input rather than coax. Is there a device that I can use to make this work? And while I'm at it, just what is "sp/dif"? I know I can record from the turntable to minidisk via line inputs but I would like to keep it digital all the way if possible. Ideally, I would get a turntable that also has an amplifier built in so that I can eliminate the need for even the stereo receiver/amp. Can all this be done? thanks
