Is this newer model SIR-TS360 HD receiver better than the older model # SIR-TS160. This forum posted by a few members that the TS160 had a few problems as far as the remote, speed of tuner, picture quality. Does the newer model get these kinks out.
Is it a superior receiver than the older model? I purchased Samsung's HD DLP TV model # HLN507W, so I would like to stay all Sammy. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

My suggestion would be to buy one and find out. Then you could post your findings on here and let us know...Happy

It's a newer model but when I briefly looked at it a few months ago it appeared to be a stripped down 160 without some of the features. Which explains why it's less expensive. I don't know if there is any difference in the video performance - it's possible if they're using newer technology. I'm a channel surfer and I have no problem with the TS-160 channel changing time, and I have had issues with that before on other boxes. Only problem I've had is software update failure but everything works just fine. If it has the features you want give it a try. You might want to buy from a regular retailer with a no question return policy just in case.

Now don't think I jumping on your case or anything but.....

You suggest that our questioner just go buy it and tell everyone else how it works. What the hell is that supposed to mean? He came in here and asked a simple question. He's looking for an answer that might help him decide if there is any advantage to the new STB. You seem to like to just go out and buy it and hope that it works out for you. Inevitibly what you buy for yourself seems to be the greatest thing according to your prior posts on different electronic purchases. Have you ever been burned?

The purpose of a forum like this is to share our knowledge about what we have proven to be true. You're not sharing here, in this case. You are simply looking for someone else to help you make your own decision. If you don't have a quality answer, why waste your time?

In answer to your question...No, I have never been burned. I do alot of research and then I make my buy... The only way for him to know about this product would be to buy it and try it out, or go to a store and have them hook one up...but then that store would have to "happen" to have the same display as his. So what other way would he know for sure?...Maybe you could enlighten me?...So what you are suggesting is that someone else like me go out and buy the player so I can tell other posters how good it is?...well I have tried that and it doesn't work...They won't believe me anyways...as far as this ...

It sounds like the poster in question here is the one wanting someone else to make a decision. Goofy

Isn't this forum a part of "research? If you have zero idea coming in, an answer from someone who actually owns a product might give you some idea. It's a starting place. Now, if many answers said that the product was worthless, that might give you an idea about what you might not even want to waste your time with further research. Your strategy seems to be just go buy it and tell the rest of us how well it performs. I'm not going for that. Your argument doesn't hold water.

Bobbyc...It wouldn't matter if some posters said that a product was worthless because there would always be someone like you to come on and say that you own the product and you think it's great!...so you see, the bottom line is the only way to know for sure is to do some research and then buy the product. You notice you never hear me talking about how I'm going to return something I bought because I'm not happy with it...Do you think that is a co-incidence?...I assure you it's not... I absolutely "love" my Toshiba TV and Pioneer DVD player...(very happy with my purchase). Waving
