We have a Sony KD34XBR2 34" crt set that we love. We are looking for a second (larger) HDTV and the Sony Grand WEGA KF50WE610 50 in. Projection Television was a jaw-dropping standout among the other projection TV's at BestBuy the other evening. Much sharper than the other sets (all of which were being fed component video signals from a 1080i source). The "big brother" KF60WE610 was "almost" as good - but the smaller set had the advantage in edge sharpness and that "through an open window" look.

Has anyone had personal experience with either of these sets?

Thanks.

I have the 50 and I love it.
I use it with a Sony NS725P DVD and DirecTv HD and both look great.

I have had a very good experience with the 50 inch Sony Grand Wega. I found it a good compromise between a plasma and a typical big screen tv. You can find a pretty good review of the tv and user comments at cnet.com

Good luck!

I forgot to mention -- check prices. I think I just saw the 50 inch at Myer-Emco marked down to $2900. Also, Best Buy gives a good buy on a service plan at $250.

Marked down to $2900? Wow I paid $2700 for mine in November.
For you people that live in the Chicago area check out Grants you can bargain with them, the only drawback is they don't take credit cards. But you can get their in house card with 12mo. same as cash.
