The Voom rep came into our store today and told us that they would be carrying all 7 ESPN Stations, obviously including the ESPNHD Channel, starting May 1st!!! About time!!! This makes it all the more enticing. The lease plan they have right now also allows you to do it with no upfront money, no credit checks, and no contracts. Pretty good deal.

Excuse: "They require a land-line phone."

They keep adding more and more channels. Just checked my Voom Guide and sure enough ESPNHD is there. YAHOO!!!!. For $39.90 a month this is a steal.

People get your landlines hooked back up. Its well worth it!

How's picture quality on all their HD channels? Do they compress the signal, like DirecTV?

Steve,

"...For $39.90 a month this is a steal. People get your landlines hooked back up. Its well worth it!"

I would like to get VOOM for this very reason. But it is not worth it for $70 a month ($40 for VOOM and ~$30 for land line phone).

I've had voom since the first week in november...never had a phone line hooked up...don't even have a phone (or line) in the same room...when I ordered pbhothd I was told I had to have a phone line...I explained my phone was in another room...they said to run a line to my reciever so they could download the update and authorization...I told them I would have to hang up to do that...they said, OK after it's done wait 30 minutes and if I'm not recieving it to call back...I said, OK and hung up...turned to channel 701 and lo and behold, no phone line yet and I have playboy...so, make your own decisions, but don't blame the land line...

So far all Ive seen is upconverted material.

P.s. I have never had a land line hooked up either. I think that they just want a telephone number to verify your address.
