How far should I sit from a 100" Front Projection Screen? I will be watching predominantly DVDs, and the occasional HD sporting event. I've read so many different factors (1.5 times height, sometimes width or sometimes diagonal). I was just curious what the general accepted distance is for SD?

Thanks for the help folks.

Try 3 to 4 times the height of the screen. The exact figure is like 3.6 but no one figure is right for all viewing pleasures or rooms, furniture, etc.

For 1080i, 3 times the screen height. For 720p, 4.5 times the screen height.

Thanks Guys. I found a calculator online that states for a 100" screen, THX recommends the viewer be 11.2 feet from the screen. That just seems close for my taste and wanted to check with this forum. For SD (DVD watching), what would you recommend.......around 4 to 6x the height of the screen?

For 640x480, 8 times the height is considered correct. But many people sit in the range 5-7 times the height, feeling that the advantages of a big picture are worth some blur.
