chris, i know that you are probably the most knowledgeable person in northern ontario when it comes to hockey and various leagues......if a player did not get their release at the beginning of the season is it true that after december 1st they have their release granted without any compensation?

I'm not sure what the constitution about releases is in the Hockey Northwestern Ontario District. If you are in Marathon-West (Thunder Bay, Dryden, Fort Frances, Kenora), you're best bet is to contact the HNO in Thunder Bay about that. If you're White River/Hearst-East, here is a link to the NOHA constitution about Releases. On that page, it states January 10th. However, I have heard the date you have mentioned from other knowledgeable hockey invidividuals. As for the Muskokas & Parry Sound districts, they do not fall under the NOHA.

I was unable to find anything regarding releases under the Ontario Hockey Federation website or the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association.
