Alton Ellis R.I.P
It is with deep sadness we learnt yesterday morning of the passing of the greatest rocksteady vocalist of all the greats, Mr Alton Ellis. Legend is a word often used, but Alton truly was one of the leading singers to emerge from Jamaica, a legend amongst many top voices, he cut hit after hit through his long career. Surely in the top five performers of reggae music history, trying to name favourite tracks is close to impossible, so many of his cuts stand out as classic recordings. Timeless pieces of music that will live on and on.
We had the true pleasure and honour of working with Alton twice, a lovely man, sincere and humble, yet an aura of greatness surrounded him. It remains a proud achievement for us all.
At this time, we pass on our deepest sympathies to all his family and friends. He was always with family members, always encouraging them and sharing the crowds love with them. I hope at this difficult time this love the world shared for Alton will help them through.
R.I.P Alton....we will never forget......
