Response to Re: A recommendation

Unfortunately you've missed the point completely.

My point of view was that things were said about actors AND their fans which were personal and unacceptable. I did not single out any actor in particular - only when something specific was said.

There was/is also a feeling, in fact a 'snobbishness, that opinions expressed ARE truth. Contradictory opinions are then trashed. Where's the fair play in that? Where does the moderator come in? Surely to do what seems to have been neglected on 'Superchat'. Why did the debate get as far as it did? Why were the opinions or preferences of some trashed? The forum is being dominated by single-minded individuals.

There are two aspects to music. You may like it because it's technically good or because it sounds good. Both are valid. Dismissing someone's preference because they like something that you may think is inferior IS infair.

The issue was NOT about one actor or another, it was - and still is - about fair play and respect for others.

Some posters here really need to try and understand what 'respect' means.

I've not seen any evidence that anyone has any regret over anything they've written. Saying you're sorry is one thing - meaning it is quite different. Is it really good enough to say "sorry, but that's the way I am!"?

Of course none of this has anything to do with JCS. This forum cannot be what it proclaims itself to be until posters understand and respect the opinions of others.

It should have some guidelines. It needs them.
