It was better than i expected! Sound quality was excellent, much better than in the broadway cast or the film soundtrack. The cast... Well, Paul Nicholas and Stephen Tate are not exactly Jeff Fenholt and Ben Vereen, but Nicholas is a great actor, and i like Tate in Superstar (in the end, he starts shouting "Everything's alright!"... interesting!). John Parker as Pilate sounds like Ethan Freeman and i think he is pretty good. Paul Jabara as Herod... WOW! This is the funniest version ever! ("I'm the king of the jews! And don't you ever forget it!) Trial before pilate is great, John Parker and Paul Nicholas do a great job. The orchestrations are not always very rock (I hate Simon Zealotes), but the ensemble is clear and strong (Unlike in the film). I don't why i like it. This album has something very original in it. | |
