Not Very Authentic

by Tulloch

That's a nice painting but I think it's more fantasy than fact. If you've ever viewed the actual film of the race, it's evident that the Kenilworth track was not much more than a cow paddock. The only sight visible opposite the winning post was a carpark and a Marquee, no grand Churchill Downs style grandstand like the one in the painting ( in fact no grandstand at all ). And what about that track, that's gotta be the narrowest home straight I've ever seen, I've seen wider Go-Cart tracks. I get really annoyed when people try to pass something off as authentic when it clearly is not, I doubt that the artist has ever set foot an a racetrack in his life. But its a nice "painting" the pity is, with a little research it could have been a great painting.
