Looking through extensive photo files at the National Museum of Racing, I was surprised that a few rarely-seen images of Man o' War show him with a slight but definite Roman nose. It wasn't obvious from all angles, and most popular photos of him deemphasize it. Isn't that funny? Apparently people preferred to publish the "glamour" shots, but those don't show the whole reality.
MoW's wonderful steeplechasing son Battleship had a VERY rugged head with a big ol' Roman nose. Don't know which of MoW's ancestors transmitted it, but it seems to have run in some part of his family. Personally, I don't mind it. War Admiral and Battleship had such spirit that they seem beautiful, no matter how bumpy their noses were. :>
