I don't know how jockeys ride over there in the U S but I backed Vinnie Roe and his Pommie jockey had him wide the whole journey, whereas Glen Boss on Makybe Diva sat on the fence and only went around one horse the entire race.
The Melbourne Cup is 3200 metres, Vinnie Roe must have covered 3500 metres while Makybe Diva covered 3202 metres. It might sound like I'm talking through my pocket, and I probably am but I reckon swap the jockeys and you'd probably see the placings reversed.
