There has been alot of talk of the past say about 30 years that horses have become more fragile and that they aren't as "good as horses of say 1979 and under" sort of speak, at racing. So I think this statement made was overated, sure horses run less and aren't as fit but there have been a good bunch of great racehorses. Here are racehorses that I think were great during the 1980's up until now, here is the order I put them in(1-5):
1. Easy Goer-he has the closest time to Secretariat's on mile and a half dirt race.
2. Cigar-won sixteen straight.
3. Sunday Silence-beat Easy Goer in 3 of there 4 meetings.
4. Genuine Risk-filly that won the Kentucky Derby.
5. Smarty Jones-undefeated in all starts leading up to the Belont Stakes.
I think all of these horses are great, if you would be kind enough, I would like to here everyone elses position on this subject, and I would also like to know which top 5 horses you think were the best of the 80's and up.
