Scipion looks pretty nice coming off a win from the Risen Star Stakes, look for him this weekend in the Louisiana Derby. It's on ESPN. I was going to go to this race but I unfortunately have a track meet. His jockey is Gary Stevens, and if anyone knows how to make a horse run well it's difinitely him.
Wilko has the most experience, I think he had twelve starts last year, so hopefully we will see more of him soon. Declans Moon continues to impress me also.
I hope that Sweet Catomine races in the triple crown. I know this sounds weird, but I hope that when we finally do get a triple crown winner that it is something special. After 25 years of waiting after Citation, we got Secretariat's awesome preformance. I hope that when we do get one again, it's a record setting horse, or a filly like Sweet Catomine. Does anyone feel like that? I hope that the next triple crown winner has a distinction about it. Has anyone noticed that most of the triple crown winners have some special thing about them? Secretariat had his amazing 2:24 flat preformance, Seattle Slew was unbeaten before the Triple Crown, Omaha was sired by a triple crown winner, Affirmed had the rivalry with Alydar, Sir Barton ran the Derby, Preakness, Belmont, and Withers all within a very short time of one another and won them all, Citation was racing's first millionaire, Count Fleet won the Belmont by 25 lengths I think, and Whirlaway had his famous running style where he always tried to run towards the outside rail. Then there was Assault, who was called the Club Footed Comet because of his crippled leg. I don't know about Gallant Fox but I hope that the next triple crown winner turns out to be something really special. It would be awesome if it were a filly in my opinion.
But anyway, I think that it's a good crop of three year olds this year and I can't wait to see what happens!
