1967 woodward stakes

by AL

Many horseracing experts agree that the 1967 running of the Woodward stakes was indeed the race of the century, with three of the greatest horses ever to step on a track going head to head, Dr Fager, buckpasser, and Damascus. My question is, which of the three ultimately, when all was said and done, had the greatest career? Yes Damascus blew everyone out that day with an incredible performance to win by ten lengths, but it seems to me that Buckpasser was better the year before, and Dr Fager the next year. Three legendary horses indeed, but which goes down as the best of the three?
