Thank you for this marvelous page with information on the "Living Flame" as Joe Palmer described him. I have read two books on Man O War in addition to any other article I come across. He was the benchmark. I was fortunate to be present for Secretariat's Preakness which was an unbelievable display of perfection, second only to his Belmont. Secretariat was the best in my lifetime. I, however, have no doubt that Man O War was the best ever.
