I'm going to have to agee with Jibberish on this one. Bodybuild is a factor, yet it doesn't always decide on what a horse will be like. Same goes for human athletes. I am built like a distance runner/swimmer {those were my sports back in the day}, yet no anyone could touch me in a 50m freestyle/50 m dash. When I was a child I was the tallest/skinniest kid in my class {save 2 others} yet I could run faster than anyone even the little compact kids, same with swimming, I swam from 2nd Grade to 12th, in the 6th Grade I was so good at sprinting I got 6th at state, when it came to the longer distances I faultered, same goes for horses and not just horses all other types of athletic animals, size/shape does matter but it isn't always the key factor. As for the distance questoin on First Samurai, we'll he hasn't been able to prove anything, which isn't his fault his last two races were throw outs in my mind, although I do think Corinthian would have won anyways. But who is to say First Sam can't go a mile in a quarter or mile and an eight in a clean race, hes never truly gotten the chance. I look at it this way, he is the best BC Juv Placed horse who will possibly get to the Derby{Stevie is gone, and Henny Hughes, I doubt will even show up}, Brother Derek has done everything perfect, so he does deserve the top spot...for now, he really hasn't beat anything though{save Stevie}. I would like to see im run on the east coast, but hey, I dont make the decisions. The horses who are my top 5 Derby contenders right now {no specific order}: Brother Derek, Lawyer Ron, Corinthian, Private Vow, and First Samurai, believe me those will probably change come the 18th of March. We'll thats all I have to say, thanks for reading.
