Exceller, who turned out to be a decent broodmare sire, was slaughtered at age 23, just a few days after his initial nomination to the Hall of Fame.

So are you saying that because Seattle Slew was getting his second wind and Exceller was spent - that Exceller was an inferior horse and deserved to be slaughtered?
