When Barbaro broke through the gate at the start it was a good sign something was WRONG. Such a factor defeats 99 horses in a hundred and Barbaro ought to have scratched right there! He would be well and able to race in the future if that had been done. However it would have taken astronomical will power for the connections to do that.
