I understand your view as a hardcore gambler, horse racing is just another way for you to make money. But to the rare fans of horse racing in America there is no doubt that it has been on the decline in this country since the early 80's, sure there were quality horses in the 80's, my favorite horse Easy Goer raced in that era. But nothing that compares to the 70's and the decades previous. Horse racing in America is just not as huge a draw like it once was. It lacks national unified leadership and competion from casinos and the new poker kick everyone is on in this country. Horse racing doesn't really have anything positive to offer the casual guy that flips through the channels. Barbaro could have been a huge star attracted alot of fans to the sport, but the fragility factor set in and now those potentials have lost intrest, they may check up on him, but they won't want to watch horse racing again becuase there is the possibility that if they start to latch themselve unto a horse, he'll get injured and retire. The casual fan will not want to go through the hassel of that. Sorry about the long posts I get carried away sometimes.
