I never got to see Makybe Diva in the flesh, but I wish I had.
What she did will never be equalled, in 145 years only 5 horses had won the Melbourne Cup twice, none had won it three times. Makybe Diva won three in a row and set a weight carrying record for a mare when she was allocated 58 kgs ( 127.5 pounds ) in winning last years Cup.
Her feat will be talked about for decades.
Casino Prince ( well named, as his owner won him in a raffle at Crown Casino in Melbourne ) failed badly in the Slipper 14th of 16 and then ran second last of 14 a week later in the Sires Produce Stakes at Randwick. He may have neeeded a break and hopefully he'll come back better as a three year old.
I hate 2 year old racing and never bet on them, I've seen too many potential topliners burnt out early in their careers from chasing the big money races like the Magic Millions and the Golden Slipper. Casino Prince may be another to add to the list
