Colin`s best speed figure The Champagne Oct 19 1907 was 107 on Belmont Straight course against one horse Stamina!
Colin`s best Saratoga race Aug 10 1907 and he equaled the track record of 1:12 running against one horse named Uncle who pressed him very hard. 104 Beyer that day.
People kept accurate daily speed variants even then. I have uncovered records extant of day to day speed variants of that time.
Colin was a great two year old but is much slower than either Regret or Ruffian.

There is not a 3 second difference in the basic speed of the two tracks between 1907 and 1974. On average there is a two second difference which leaves Ruffian 4 to 5 lengths better than Colin.
