Considering all the records he broke in his career, the faster tracks of today... imagine what he would have done if Riddle had allowed the jockey to let Big Red run full out instead of holding him back!!
I have noticed that some here feel that he wouldn't qualify as the Horse of the Century as he didn't run against top grade racers. However, from what I have read and understand, if it wasn't for Man O' War any number of these horses would have been the top claimer of 1919-1920. It wasn't that he ran against inferior horses, just that running against HIM made them look bad!
I have been an avid Man O' War fan my entire life (43 years) and can not think of anything better than to have been able to see him race. I have watched Secretariat, Riva Ridge, Ruffian, Seattle Slew, Affirmed, Dance Smartly etc. but it is still of my humble opinion that Man O' War is still the champion of all time. I get choked up any time I read an article or book about him -- just thinking of his greatness!!
