Hello Bob I am glad to meet a contemporary. I was born in 1941 as well and when I was all of 5 years old my dad brought me to Kentucky to meet MOW. I was awestruck by his presence. I was bothered by Mow`s one loss but Will Harbut answered “I didn’t see Mow lose that day. I wasn’t there so it must not have happened.” His love for MOW was shinning through his skin. All who saw MOW were exulted by him.
My father owned restaurants in Saratoga in the 1920`s and occasionally Riddle and the Jeffords would eat there. Riddles and the Jeffords shared the same home while they stayed in Saratoga. It was at 251 Union Avenue. The address was later changed to 125 Union Ave by the US Post Office. That home is still there today and it is a wonderful Victorian mansion built in 1873 and it was purchased by Mrs. Riddle. It is located right across the street from the Saratoga Race Track near the Union Avenue entrance to the track.
