Discreet Cat won a $2 Million purse at Na Al Sheba race track in UAE at 1/18 miles on March 25, 2006. In that race Discreet Cat beat Invasor a top American 4 yr old.
Thomas Albertrani was glad Invasor was scratched from the Gold Cup Saturday due to temperature. Albertrani said Bernidini would not be so stressed since he won`t have to run against a top 4 year old. He would save something for the Breeder’s Cup Classic by not going against Invasor. Since when do American 3 year old horses take on top 4 year olds at 1 1/8 miles in March! A top 4 year old is 5 to 7 lengths better than a top 3yr old in MARCH at 1 1/8 miles. I have never seen it in 40 years of watching racing. Discreet Cat ran as fast in March ( when 3 yr olds are 5 lengths slower!) as Bernadini does now. He ran a mile in 1:35 4/5 in UAE in March same as Bernadini did Saturday in the Gold Cup. Who knows who will win a race together but Discreet Cat would be the best opponent. He COULD beat Bernadini and only a race together can prove it.
