It was October 12, 1920 when MOW ran his match race against Sir Barton. It was run at the same hour as the 7th game of the World Series was played in Cleveland, Ohio. Nation wide news coverage gave Mow`s race the greatest coverage ever seen for a sporting literally knocking the World Series off the news. Even in New York all daily papers showed full pages photos of MOW`s race and small articles about baseball. A New York team was in that World Series namely the Brooklyn Dodgers who lost that game and the Series. A full race film was made by Eadward Muybridge and it was shown on Broadway at an admission price of $1.00. Movies at the time only charged 10 cents for admission. MOW got movie goers to pay $1 or 10 times the usual price to see him race.
MOW was a National sports icon who transcended the sport in many areas of life.
