Indeed MOW is in Discreet Cat’s pedigree seven times. He can be traced to Batanoea a British mare bought for $11,000 by Walter Jeffords in December 1920 at the Castleton Sales in England. Batanoea was an unraced mare who was included in MOW`s first crop of mares and produced a long line of stars. Discreet Cat’s Cigar Mile closely resembles MOW`s Dwyer run in 1920 with the blisteringly fast contested pace at the maximum a horse can run and then to pull away to a track record. Discreet Cat is a monster the likes of which I have not seen in 25 years or more. Easy Goer whose track record DC equaled that day is ironically one of the elite 36 horses who as three year olds have given weight to older horses and won. Think of it 600 three year old horses in 40 years have tried to concede weight to older horses and a mere 36 have won leaving about 565 failures in 600. Amazing indeed!
